The Journey Begins

Hi there.

How do you begin a blog? My name is Nathan, and if you know anything about me at all, you are likely aware of the fact that I am about as technologically un-savvy as they come. I may belong to the generation that grew up along with the internet, DVR, and smartphone technology, but I can assure you that this has in no way impacted my ability to navigate the world of computers and technology with any degree of skill or competency.  In fact, I once took an intro-level computer course in university, intending to boost my grade, and in the end found that my grade in the class actually resulted in lowering my overall grade that year. Who knew that making colour-coded tables in Excel could be such a conundrum?

Having said all that, what may seem like a normal task to you is actually quite an accomplishment in my own eyes.  I’m actually quite proud of the fact that I was able to figure out how to get a basic blog going, and no one can take that win away from me.  I’d appreciate any congratulatory texts/calls/high-fives you’d like to throw my way.

In all seriousness, thanks for checking this out.  I appreciate that you would read this post as I begin this journey in sharing my thoughts/perspectives in this way.  I wanted to create a place where I can tell some stories, lay out my thoughts on some of the issues we face in the world, and hopefully add some value to the world I live in.  I think that’s a longing that we can all identify with, the desire to use our life to make a difference in someone else’s.  I don’t have much wisdom or experience to offer, but I want to share what I do have, in hopes that it can someday be meaningful to someone who needs it.

I am a pastor, and I love the work I do. I think at the heart of it, my job is about helping people connect to one another, and helping people connect to Jesus.  My hope for this site is that it can be a catalyst for these connections. I love Jesus, and I love people, so I will probably talk a lot about both of those subjects.  I hope that’s cool with you.  I think that conversations about life, faith, and spirituality are some of the best, most meaningful conversations we can have, and I think that everyone has something to offer in those conversations, whether you consider yourself to be Christian, Buddhist, Muslim, Agnostic, Atheistic, or literally anything in between.  So let’s have the conversation!

So if you find yourself at the end of this, thank you.  Thanks for reading, and I hope you’ll come back again.  I want to post thoughts, stories, photos, and messages, and I hope that you check it out.  May you find something in here that encourages you, challenges you, or inspires you as you go on your journey.
